The Genesis of Secondary Education Associative Movement in Portugal (Early Twentieth Century)

Abstract
The construction of the profession of teachers, like other professions, is linked to the associative movement. Given that the profession is a collective construction, it is important to know how teachers are organized to give meaning to their work. The objective of our study is the journal of the first secondary teachers Association official, whose title is Boletim da Associação do Magistério Secundário Oficial. The objective is to identify, to reflect and to discuss the discourse produced in the genesis of the associative movement (early 20th century). The interest of this study depends on the specificity of the Association will analyse: included professors of the Lyceum of various disciplines because it had no associations of teachers of mathematics, French or other disciplines in this period to the Portugal. The methodology used in this study was the discourse analysis and the analysis of the content of the source Boletim da Associação does Magistério Secundário Oficial. With these results it is concluded that this Association who has played a very important role in the debates on education reforms, teaching methods, associative topics and themes socio-professional
