The Unequal Distribution of Domestic Work Before and During the Pandemic

Abstract
The lockdown established by decree due to the coronavirus crisis meant that Spanish households had to face an increase in domestic tasks in an unprecedented scenario. The objective of this article is to analyse how the distribution of housework has been in opposite-gender two-parent households. Likewise, the role of telework is studied in those households in which they took advantage of this modality. To do this, the Barometers made for the Navarra Provincial Parliament in 2019 and 2020 have been used, which will allow us to compare said distribution, before and during the pandemic. The results show gender inequality in both periods and point to greater social polarization in households. Teleworking has not meant a more equitable distribution.
