Therefore, the objective of this research is to understand the relationship between the consumption of pornography in Spanish adolescents and young men and women and its repercussions on their sexual behaviors. The sample was drawn from the study published in 2020 by the Youth Institute of the Spanish Government, comprising a total of 4,562 individuals aged between 15 and 29. The results indicate that, in most cases, when they started having sex, men had already consumed pornography several times a week, while women did not or had done so only once in their lifetime. Both women and men who had done things they did not want to do in their sexual relationships consumed more pornography than those who had not done things they did not want to do. Men and women who consume more pornography tend to refrain from using condoms because they feel the sexual encounter more, although the trend is not very clear. The study concludes on the significance of pornography as a socializing and educational element among young men and women.
Cristian Díaz Hernández, Josué Gutiérrez Barroso, Esther Torrado Martín-Palomino Copyright (c) 2024 Cristian Díaz Hernández, Josué Gutiérrez Barroso, Esther Torrado Martín-Palomino http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://www.hipatiapress.com/hpjournals/index.php/generos/article/view/14080 Fri, 25 Oct 2024 00:00:00 +0200 Current Reality About The Trans* Inclusion In Spain https://www.hipatiapress.com/hpjournals/index.php/generos/article/view/14145
Equality is a condition of social justice that guarantees the full development of the human being, a right included in article 1.1 of the Spanish Constitution. However, hate crimes against the trans community continue to increase, with 80% being one of the most vulnerable social groups being unemployed. Added to this fact is the non-existent training of teachers in gender identity. The objective of this research is to investigate the real inclusion of the trans collective in the educational, social and family environment. The methodology is mixed and exploratory in nature. On the one hand, the quantitative methodology uses the Likert-type scale questionnaire that 131 Spanish people answered. On the other hand, in the qualitative methodology, 5 trans Spanish people were interviewed. The results show that the trans collective does not enjoy equal rights and opportunities like the rest of the population and among the causes is the lack of knowledge of this reality. This fact demonstrates the need to educate the entire society in sex-gender diversity, starting with education professionals, in order to train citizens free of gender stereotypes.
Eleazar Ros-Moreno, Antonio Daniel García-Rojas, María José Carrasco-Macías Copyright (c) 2024 Eleazar Ros-Moreno, Antonio Daniel García-Rojas, María José Carrasco-Macías http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://www.hipatiapress.com/hpjournals/index.php/generos/article/view/14145 Fri, 25 Oct 2024 00:00:00 +0200 Sappho Scientific Evidence Platform on Gender: Narratives of Academics and Non-Academics about a Community Science Case https://www.hipatiapress.com/hpjournals/index.php/generos/article/view/15535
Modern society's digitization has led to the creation of online science platforms. Research shows that academic-oriented platforms boost active research teams, enhance scientific collaboration, and encourage manuscript reviews. However, there is limited research on platforms for citizen participation in science. This study examines the Sappho Scientific Evidence Platform, which aims to provide a science-based participatory tool with a focus on gender-related issues. Using a qualitative communicative approach, 10 users (6 primary school teachers, 2 researchers, and 2 university professors) were interviewed about their platform usage, impacts encountered, and the dialogues between citizens and scientists. The findings reveal that both academics and non-academics can contribute to science on Sappho. Participants reported improved scientific literacy, enhanced conversations about scientific evidence, and the use of this evidence in their personal and professional lives. The platform empowers users to critically engage with gender issues. These results highlight Sappho's positive impact and its potential as a valuable tool for promoting scientific evidence among its users.
Ramón Flecha , Mar Joanpere, Regina Gairal, Rosa Valls-Carol, Ane López de Aguileta, Ariadna Munté-Pascual Copyright (c) 2024 Ramón Flecha , Mar Joanpere, Regina Gairal, Rosa Valls-Carol, Ane López de Aguileta, Ariadna Munté-Pascual http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://www.hipatiapress.com/hpjournals/index.php/generos/article/view/15535 Fri, 25 Oct 2024 00:00:00 +0200 Economic and Political Autonomy of Women in Latin America: A Multidimensional Analysis of Evolution and Inequalities https://www.hipatiapress.com/hpjournals/index.php/generos/article/view/13228
In recent years, there has been a growing international interest in understanding gender inequality in various social spheres, in this sense; organizations have been dedicated to promoting the economic development of countries seeking alternatives to strengthen equality, promoting political agreements and actions.
