The text explores some pioneering researches on the topic and indicates possible developments. The tradition of anthropologic research on gender and old age in Brazil began between the years 1970/1980 and it actually remains active. The first articles and spread books considered the family and work relations. A little time later, the researches proliferated on topics as the urban sociability and the body. Nowadays, the field of studies on sexuality attracts new researches. All these works contributed to the dissemination of the generational perspective in gender studies. The generational perspective implies a comparative exercise, since thinking in terms of aging generation paths makes possible an attention to the sense of the changes and the permanencies in the gender interpretations and practices.

ER -
