About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The Journal on Masculinities and Social Change (known by its Spanish acronym MCS) is an Open Acces four-monthly Journal of Hipatia Press that publishes research outcomes with significant contributions to masculinities and their influence on social transformations. MCS does not only collect research outcomes from different disciplines and methodological approaches, but also research carried out by interdisciplinar research teams. In this line, disciplinar and intedisciplinar works related to masculinities studies will be welcomed.

This scientific Journal emerges from the lack of journals about masculinities in Spain and Latin America which are indexed into international Social Sciences databases such as the Social Science Citation Index. MCS wants to be a complete and reliable source of information on research and theoretical contributions on the field of masculinities. So, in this way, the journal will be essential reading for scientists, researchers, educators, and other key agents who wish to keep abreast of the latest developments in the masculinities studies. MCS is a multilingual journal and publish articles in English, Spanish, Catalan, Euskera and Galician. It aims to be indexed and abstracted as soon as possible in International Social Sciences databases such as the Social Science Citation Index.

Also the confidentiality will be maintained before any clarifications or complaints that an author wishes to send to the committees of the journal or to the evaluators of the article.

MCS declares its commitment for the respect and integrity of the works already published. For this reason, plagiarism is strictly prohibited in MCS and texts that are identified as plagiarism or its content are fraudulent will be removed from the journal if they have already been published or will not be published. Hipatia Press and MCS editors will act, in these cases, as quickly as possible. The authors also have to justify that, in case of a shared authorship, there was a full consensus of all the authors affected and that the article or book review has not been previously presented or published in other journals.

In the event that MCS editors are made aware of any allegation of research misconduct, these allegations would be treated accordingly. MCS editors will be willing to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies whenever needed.
