Historical Evolution of Research Interests on Single Father Families: Descriptive Synthesis

This paper focuses on the scientific production that has been generated on single-parent families headed by a man. The objective is to identify contributions that have been made from different areas of knowledge, and to provide a descriptive synthesis
of these contributions, focusing on the research interests that these families have raised over time. This will allow us to systematize, albeit in an approximate way, the scientific research in the field of single fatherhood. In methodological terms, the
study is based on a bibliographic search in documentary collections of international libraries. After obtaining the final list, each contribution was reviewed to identify descriptive issues. The results are presented in two historical phases. The first one,
focused on the seventies and eighties when the research topic started to arouse some interest in the scientific community. The second one, from the nineties to the present. A historical approach is prioritized in the analysis, in order to observe the
evolution of research interests.
